ROUEN AND THE SEINE VALLEY
The river valley and the capital Rouen were an endless source of inspiration for artists such as Monet,Gauguin,Pisarro or Sisley. We have put together an impressionist itinerary that takes in 7 majors sites immortalised in the paintings of these grand masters.
In the 19th century the city of Rouen was an immense source of inspiration and all the great names like Monet, Sisley, Gauguin and Pissarro lived in or Rouen for a spell or came to visit the city to paint. Their pictures of the monuments or different areas of the city lke the Boieldieu Bridge, the Cathedral Notre-Dame or the Rue de l’Epicerie are amongst some of the most well known from the movement. |
